Tongue tumors smaller than 4 cm can be treated with surgery or radiotherapy. In these cases, 80% of patients usually recover satisfactorily.
Large tumors should be operated with surgery and applied postoperative radiotherapy.
The last step involves a chemotherapy treatment. Some doctors apply it before the operation so that the surgical procedure is less invasive.
Cases of death occur when the tumor reappears or spreads producing metastases in the neck.
